Practical guide

How to inject the product

Peptides ship as a lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder. They must be reconstituted with bacteriostatic water, then injected under the skin (subcutaneously). Follow these steps in order, with new, sterile supplies.

What you need

  • Bacteriostatic water (0.9% benzyl alcohol)
  • Sterile U-100 insulin syringes
  • 70% isopropyl alcohol swabs
  • Sharps disposal container
  1. Step 1: Get ready

Wash your hands with soap and water and work on a clean surface.

Take the vial out of the fridge 10 to 15 minutes ahead so it reaches room temperature. Check the product: the powder should be white and compact.

  2. Step 2: Disinfect the stoppers

Remove the caps and wipe the rubber stopper of both the peptide vial and the water vial with an alcohol swab.

Let the alcohol air-dry for a few seconds. Don’t blow on it and don’t touch the stoppers again.

  3. Step 3: Add the bacteriostatic water

Draw the amount of water you need and inject it slowly into the peptide vial, along the glass wall.

Don’t spray the water straight onto the powder: a strong jet can damage the peptide. The volume of water sets the concentration, so write it on the vial with the date.

  4. Step 4: Let it dissolve

Gently roll the vial between your fingers until the powder has dissolved. Never shake it.

The solution should be clear with no particles. If it stays cloudy or has particles, don’t use it.

  5. Step 5: Draw the dose

Wipe the stopper again, insert the needle, turn the vial upside down and pull the plunger to the prescribed volume.

Tap the syringe so air bubbles rise, then push them gently back into the vial. Check the volume at eye level.

  6. Step 6: Pick the site

Belly (at least 5 cm from the navel), front of the thigh or back of the upper arm.

Use a different site each time to avoid irritation and lumps under the skin. Avoid moles, scars, bruises and red or tender areas.

  7. Step 7: Inject under the skin

Clean the skin with alcohol, pinch a fold, insert the needle at 45 or 90 degrees and push the plunger slowly.

Keep the needle in place for 5 to 10 seconds after injecting, then pull it out at the same angle and release the fold.

  8. Step 8: After the injection

Don’t rub. Put the syringe in the sharps container and return the vial to the fridge.

Slight, short-lived redness is common. See a healthcare professional if it spreads, becomes warm or painful, or comes with a fever.
