Tesamorelin 10 mgGHRH analog

Tesamorelin 10 mg is a stabilized version of GHRH, the 44-amino-acid hormone made by the hypothalamus that tells the pituitary gland to release growth hormone. Instead of supplying growth hormone, it stimulates the body’s own production. Developed by Montreal-based Theratechnologies, it has been FDA-approved since 2010 as Egrifta to reduce excess belly fat in people living with HIV who have lipodystrophy.

What the research says

In two phase 3 trials published from 2007 on, tesamorelin reduced visceral fat by about 15% over 26 weeks compared with placebo, without loss of the fat under the skin. The most common side effects are injection-site reactions, joint pain and swelling of the hands and feet. It can also raise blood sugar.

Preparation and storage

The product ships as a lyophilized powder, to be reconstituted with bacteriostatic water. Keep the powder in the freezer or the fridge, away from light. Once reconstituted, keep the vial at 2 to 8 °C and use it within about 4 weeks.
